Directions from Cancun
From Cancun airport drive south, direction of Chetumal on highway 307. You
will pass through the towns of Playa del Carmen, Tulum and Felipe Carrillo
Puerto. After 290 kilometers, you pass through Limones, a small village. Continue
a few kilometers, until you see the road signs indicating to turn left to
go to Mahahual.
Junction to Maya Luna
Continue for a half hour drive on a very good road through the mangrove swamps.
After 50 kilometers there is a junction where you can turn to the right. DON’T
do that, his is the road to Xcalak. Just continue 5 more kilometers. Just
some meters before arriving at the Caribbean sea, turn to the right (you have
no other option ? ) and pass through the little fisherman’s town of
Mahahual. After 5 km more you pass a little bridge over the “Bermejo
river”. Approaching the curve just after the bridge you can already
see Hotel Maya Luna.
Directions from Chetumal
Leave Chetumal direction Cancun and pass through the Magical town of Bacalar.
Continue some 35 km and you will arrive at the small town of Pedros Santos,
where they sell mainly pineapples on both sides of the road. Continue some
3 minutes more and take the turn to the right to go to Mahahual. See above
for the Junction to Maya Luna part of the trip.
Directions from Merida
Leave Merida on the south east side via the YUC 18. You will pass among others
the cities of Kanasin, Tekit, Teabo, Peto and Teabo. Continue on theMExico
184 some 20 km, and you will leave Yucatan and enter Quintana Roo. Continue
to Jose Maria Morelos. Some 20 km after passing through this city you will
arrive at a junction where you can choose to go to Felipe Carillo Puerto or
Chetumal. The road to Chetumal is a bit shorter. Depending on which one you
choose, follow directions as described above.
